LLESP APPLES AND PEARS - MOUNTAIN FRUIT
OBSERVATORY OF NATIVE AND COMMERCIAL VARIETIES OF APPLES AND PEARS
A reference centre for fruit growing in the High Pyrenees. At the observatory we have been studying, since 2009, the best foreign commercial apple and pear varieties and the best traditional varieties from the Romanesque Ribagorza. The ideal altitude, generous soil, abundant sunshine and cool summer nights on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees give them the maximum in terms of colour, texture, sugars and aromatic complexity. We have twelve apple varieties in full production, all very select: Royal Gala (Brookfieldcov, Galaxycov, Mondial Galacov), Rubens®, Arianecov, Golden Delicious (Reindeerscov, Smootheecov), Reineta Gris (carries Grand Fayecov), Junami (Milwa®-Diwa®), Pinova (Evelina®), Braeburn (Ellacov) and Fuji (Kiku Fubraxcov). In pear, Conference and Angelys®.
We have more than a hundred varieties of native and traditional varieties, including apples and pears: the best of each village. Consult the characteristics and tasting notes at ribagorsanes.com. We're sure to have the good ones you used to eat when you were a child!
The Observatory is currently a private research centre that is financed by its own production, in the form of table fruit, fruit for cooking and packaged natural juices. We sell directly on the farm, at fairs and markets in Ribagorça and in local farm shops.
With the consumption of our products, as well as being able to enjoy the excellence of mountain apples and pears, we contribute to the maintenance and knowledge of the collection of traditional varieties, a reserve of biodiversity and a conservatory of cultural heritage. Consult ribagorsanes.com for more information.
Guided visits to the Observatory:
